Playa del Ingles translates into ‘The Englishman’s beach’ and aptly thousands of Brits flock here for sun, sea and San Miguels each year. Situated at the south of Gran Canaria, the resort is one of the biggest and busiest in Europe with its broad sandy beaches that stretch from the Maspalomas dunes to San Agustin in the north.
The seashore is lined by the beautiful promenade, the Paseo Costa Canaria which is planted with lush gardens. With its assortment of high-rise hotels, apartment blocks and shopping malls, Playa will not win any awards for architecture or sophisticated ambience, but the ever-growing resort is hard to beat for a good value summer fun break.
Although generally geared for the younger market, families and older visitors are also attracted by the superb year-round climate and endless beach.
